Launching a WFDA Youth Advocacy Campaign

Congratulations on making Breakthrough: The Women, Faith, and Development Summit to End Global Poverty successful! Now comes the next challenge, using the momentum of the Summit to launch a WFDA Advocacy Campaign. As youth, our role is launch the youth component of this campaign. Here are some possible questions that we have to answer:

What role should youth play in the WFDA Advocacy Campaign?

How do we expand the Youth Task Force?

How do we educate youth about the Women, Faith, and Development Alliance (not just the campaign, but the underlying issues)?

It's up to us to mobilize youth around WFDA. Let's continue the great work and take it to the next level!

Just to get the discussion started, here are some thoughts:

How do we expand the Youth Task Force?
Ask all youth who are not only interested, but committed to the issues of WFDA to join us! One more person in the YTF is one more entire network available to us.

How do we educate youth?
Adela and IEAW (Initiative to Educate Afghan Women) made the suggestion that we create a list of all WFDA member organizations with contact info and locations. That way, we can ask members of these organizations to speak on these issues at universities/high schools or students can invite them.

It seems to me that the WFDA's best gifts are around connecting people with other people. I'm not sure our role is one of "education" (there are a lot of people out there already working full-time to teach youth about social justice), but to CONNECT youth to the educators, the activists, the organizations, the needs, the ideas....and of course, to the other youth who are involved in those things!

I agree with Adela about the list of WFDA members and contact info....such a list shouldn't be hard to put together, since we have the program from the Summit with all the names of the groups. Then we could each commit to finding, for example, three "connections" between these members and youth or groups of youth that we are aware of.

Dear Friends,
I would say taht if we can have Journal and to write what things we learn to do, things we should stop to do , things we should continue to do.
It will help in making a great learning environment.
